Chilling fact:

Only 1/3 of Sonoma County high school students report feeling like they are part of their school's community.

Today you can give students real-world learning opportunities to keep them engaged and excited about learning.

And thanks to a group of generous donors, your gift will be matched dollar for dollar up to $25,000 if you give by Wednesday, September 22.

We are facing a harsh reality in Sonoma County

Our students are more disengaged than ever.

And for good reason. Kids are both emotionally and physically disconnected from school. Fires, floods, smoke and then a global pandemic have contributed to feelings of isolation. Chilling fact: only one-third of Sonoma County high school students report feeling like they’re a part of their school’s community.

Hands-on CTE activities get kids engaged and excited about learning. Students build in-demand technical skills. And they get to practice the skills that employers value.

Take a moment now to reflect upon the recent challenges that our students have been through. They have developed communication, time management and coping skills through experiences that we couldn’t ever have imagined. Skills that will serve them well as empathetic, resilient members of our community. They did this!

Now we need to ensure students have the tools to evolve to the next step in their young lives. Career technical education (CTE) is the best learning tool to re-engage and prepare students to be ready for college and career. How?

CTE connects the dots between the classroom, life outside of school and life after graduation. When these connections are made, school becomes more relevant. And when students see clear pathways to local employers and careers, they thrive. When students thrive, so does our community.

CTE is the best learning tool to re-engage and prepare students to be ready for college and career.
