STEM Kit Lending Library

CTE Foundation and Sonoma Clean Power are excited to launch the STEM Kit Lending Library, offering teachers free access to high-quality, classroom-ready kits that spark curiosity, deepen understanding, and bring engineering, EV technology, automotive systems, and environmental sustainability to life.

Teachers must reserve the STEM Kits before checking them out from the STEM Kit Lending Library. Teachers can pick up the reserved kits from the Sonoma Clean Power Customer Center in Santa Rosa (741 4th St, Santa Rosa, CA 95404).

2026-2027 Checkout Dates

Teachers can reserve and check out STEM kits in blocks of time throughout the 2026-2027 school year. Each semester provides two checkout blocks. The kits can be checked out starting any time within that block, but must be returned by the Friday of the final week in the scheduled block.

  • Fall 2026:
  • Block 1: Monday, August 24 – Friday, October 16
  • Block 2: Monday, October 26 – Friday, December 18
  • Spring 2027:
  • Block 1: Monday, January 18 – Friday, March 19
  • Block 2: Monday, March 29 – Friday, May 28

Switch Relay Lab Kits

The Switch Relay Lab Kits allow students to build and wire real circuits using relays, switches, indicators, and fuse blocks – giving them hands-on experience with the same components used in automotive, electrical, and manufacturing systems. By assembling and troubleshooting these circuits, students learn the fundamentals of electricity, wiring diagrams, switching logic, and diagnostic thinking. These kits provide a safe, low-voltage way for students to practice real-world technical skills that directly connect to high-demand careers.

Teacher Resources

Switch Vehicles Inc. has several resources for teachers to implement the Relay Lab Kits in the classroom. CTE Foundation has also added to these tools by commissioning the creation of a full curriculum, one lesson of which is focused on implementing the Switch Relay Lab Kit. The lesson is linked below, but the full Sustainable STEM curriculum can be found near the bottom of this page.

Lectec Kits

The Lectec Kits immerse students in electric vehicle design, physics, and sustainable transportation by allowing them to build and test real EV components. They offer an accessible entry point for teaching the basics of power, wiring, and engineering, while also supporting deeper learning through optional add-ons that integrate mechanical, electrical, and software systems. With these kits, students can create and refine functional mobility platforms, gaining hands-on experience with modern clean-energy technology.

Teacher Resources

Lectec offers a comprehensive collection of teacher resources at learn.lectec.com. While some materials—such as kit assembly instructions and tutorials—are available to all users, teachers with a login gain access to curriculum aligned with Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) standards.

Sustainable STEM Curriculum

In collaboration with three classroom teachers in engineering, math, and science, CTE Foundation and Sonoma Clean Power created a set of interactive, hands-on lessons designed to connect real-world tools with core STEM concepts. Students investigate topics such as physics, materials science, algebra, data analysis, and electrical and mechanical engineering – while grounding their learning in sustainability, renewable energy, and fuel systems. The complete curriculum is available below.
